Romans 2:13
For it is not merely hearing the Law that makes one righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be held guiltless and acquitted and justified.

There is an episode of Andy Griffith where a man is always in a hurry. His car breaks down in Mayberry on Sunday. Well,he ends up having dinner with Aunt Bee, Opie, Andy and Barney. After dinner out on the porch Barney says, "You know what I am going to do? I am going home, take a nap and then go see Thelma Lou.". In just a few seconds he repeats what he is going to do. Then still sitting  in the same chair all relaxed he says again, "You know what I am going to do? I am going home, take a nap and then go see Thelma Lou.". Well, the man who is always in a hurry says, "Just do it, just do it!".

We can know what needs done, but if that's all we do is just know then it will never get done.

We can talk about doing something, but just talking about doing something will never get it done.

Planning to get something done, if that's all we do, will never get anything done.

Hearing how to live and work for Jesus, if that is all we do, we will never really live for HIM.
Thinking about working for the kingdom of God, if that is all we do, we will never get work done for the kingdom.

Talking about all the things we are going to do for people and God's kingdom, if that's all we do ,we will not get much if anything done.

It is the doers that make a good difference.

It is the doers that God will reward with His blessings .

It is the doers that will hear, well done.

Just Stay on the Narrow Road

Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT) Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Proverbs 4:23-27
Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far from you. Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you. Consider well the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright. Turn not aside to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil.

If you have traveled much, you probably know the feeling of wondering if you were on the right road. Or you came to a fork in the road and it was not marked clearly.

On one of our trips with the kids in the church I thought I would cut off a few miles and so I started out on what seemed like a good road. Well the road had lots of curves so I saved no time and then I came to a fork in the road, there was no sign, no hint of which road would take me to the town I wanted to go. I sat there in great frustration for a few minutes, then I said I guess I will try this one and see where it goes. Well it did not get me to the town I wanted to go to. So I guess by now you can see that I spent some time going the wrong direction.

But our Heavenly Father who wants us to live eternally with Him has our road marked real good. We know without a doubt if we are going the right direction.

We will not get on the wrong road if we pay attention.

We will not get on the wrong road if we do not get sleepy

We will not get on the wrong road if we take direction from someone who knows the road well.

God does not intend for us to wander around, waste time and maybe get caught up in traffic that we can not get out of for miles before we can get back on the right road.

Thank God for the Holy Bible that makes choosing the right road easy.

Keep watching for all the signs and you will stay on the right road and your journey will be a pleasant one. And it will be a rewarded one.

Jesus Came To Minister Not Entertain

Luke 7:20 John's two disciples found Jesus and said to him, "John the Baptist sent us to ask, 'Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?'" 21 At that very time, he cured many people of their various diseases, and he cast out evil spirits and restored sight to the blind. 22 Then he told John's disciples, "Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard -- the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. 23 And tell him, 'God blesses those who are not offended by me.'"

The Bible tells us many times the purpose of Christ coming to dwell among men. He came that man would see through Him that God is and always will be. We know that He came to pay a price that man could have close fellowship with God in this life. Jesus came so we would not have to live under guilt for some of the things we do, that we wished we would not have done.

Jesus came to minister.

We live in a time here in America that people love to entertain themselves, and that is big business. Well the desire for people to entertain themselves is not a new thing nor is it a bad thing if done proper and right in the eyes of God.

One thing that Jesus did not do was ministry to entertain people. What I mean is that Jesus never used the gifts of God to entertain people.

Consider this scripture:

Luke 23:8 Herod was delighted at the opportunity to see Jesus, because he had heard about him and had been hoping for a long time to see him perform a miracle. 9 He asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer.

Herod was not looking for Jesus to change his life, to restore him to God. He just wanted to see something.

If church going people are not careful they can find themselves looking more for the entertainment than the true life changing experience that Jesus offers. And the church must be careful not to fall to the pressure of people who are looking for something that excites more than that which changes.

When the church is more excited about the preacher and how he preaches, than they are about what he preaches, it is time to consider what are we offering. When music and programs is what draws the people, then again it is time to consider what we are offering.

We at Bible Faith Family Church have found that we are to just follow the example Jesus set for the Church.

In my years of ministry I have heard many people talk about that dead church, most of the time that statement comes from a people who are looking to feel a certain something.

Well here is my opinion: A church that has a preacher who will preach the written word of God, a church that has people who believe in the power prayer, and seek for God to search their heart that they may be clean in the eyes of God, a church that hungers for people to meet Jesus, that church is just as alive as any church. That church body is a long way from being dead.

We at Bible Faith Family Church purpose to live that life if offer from the church.

We plan to live, worship and minister to hear, well done!

Love to be in the Lords House

Psalms 84:10 (AMP)
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.

Psalms 84:10 (NLT)
A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.

When we speak to people I wonder what they think if we say, “I have to go to church.” And yes we all know that God’s Holy Word tells us we need to go to church.

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

If the Church is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ and the purpose of the church is to build the kingdom of God, when we come together in His name, we find a place of peace. We find a place of refuge, we find new strength to face another day, we find healing for the wounds, and we leave with a hope knowing:

Romans 8:28-39
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory. What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? Will Christ Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death? (Even the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.") No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is no wonder that the Christian will say as the psalms declare:

For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.

It is just natural for the Christian to want to be in the house of his God. When we meet in the house of the Lord, we see things differently.

Psalms 73:12-17
Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.

Take time to read the rest of this chapter. And so when I tell people that I am going to church, I want them to know I like going to church it is a joy and very rewarding to my life.

Let us take heed to not lose this first love for being in the Lords house.

The Invite - It Made a Good Difference in My Life

Psalms 122:1
I was glad when they said unto me,
Let us go into the house of the Lord.

I do not recall how many times good friends invited me to church but it was a lot. Many people tried to be nice but I always made excuses. I don't know how many times I went but had no real desire to be there. I do remember a good friend asking me to go fishing and I was always up for that. As I got in the pickup he said he needed to stop and see the pastor for a minute.  Well that was fine. But as I sat with them while they talked, I lost track of what it was about because I was feeling something I could not explain. It felt kind of good but I was not sure why I was feeling like I felt. The pastor and my friend seemed to not be too concerned about me at the time. And that was o.k. They were not out to make me feel left out or anything - they just had something to discuss.

Well we did go fishing and I for sure did not say anything about feeling kind of… well I still do not know how to say it. I later heard the pastors’ wife say something that fit pretty good. She said it is better felt than telt. That was in February of 1975.  In March of 1975 on the fifth Sunday I remember that day well. My wife Dolores and I both decided we wanted to become Christians, children of the Most High living God.

Now it is April 2015 and we are still saying:

I was glad when they said unto me,
Let us go into the house of the Lord.

I'll leave you with this advice; you will never know how good something good is until you truly try it.

Psalms 34:8
O taste and see that the Lord is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.

A Good Proven Rule for a Happier Life

3/14/2015

"For the Scriptures say, If you want a happy life and good days, keep your tongue from speaking evil, and keep your lips from telling lies." 1 Peter 3:10

Some of our moms and grandmothers had some things to say about the tongue. My mother was pretty smart when it came to the tongue. She sprinkled her daily conversation with wise sayings like,  "Keep your tongue between your teeth" and "Think twice before you speak once". The Scottish people have some proverbs, too: "Keep your tongue a prisoner and your body will go free" and "A long tongue shortens friendships". My mother would also tell us, "Remember, one day you'll answer to God for every word you say".

Matthew 12:35-37 says "A good person produces good words from a good heart, and an evil person produces evil words from an evil heart. And I tell you this, that you must give an account on judgment day of every idle word you speak. The words you say now reflect your fate then; either you will be justified by them or you will be condemned."

How often we need to remember that old saying: We cannot call back the arrow we've shot into the air, the water under the bridge, or the spoken word.

A Rolling Story

A rolling stone gathers no moss, but a rolling story gathers something fresh every time we say it. Every time we repeat it, something is added and something is taken away until it's nothing like the truth.

Some little bit of gossip starts with a whisper, then it swells and becomes a tumult, and somebody's left heartbroken.

Do you wonder that Proverbs 10:19 says, "When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise"?

"God, come close. Come quickly! Open your ears - it's my voice you're hearing! Treat my prayer as sweet incense rising; my raised hands are my evening prayers. Post a guard at my mouth, God, set a watch at the door of my lips. Don't let me so much as dream of evil or thoughtlessly fall into bad company. And these people who only do wrong - don't let them lure me with their sweet talk!" Psalms 141:1-4
