The Bible tells us many times the purpose of Christ coming to dwell among men. He came that man would see through Him that God is and always will be. We know that He came to pay a price that man could have close fellowship with God in this life. Jesus came so we would not have to live under guilt for some of the things we do, that we wished we would not have done.
Jesus came to minister.
We live in a time here in America that people love to entertain themselves, and that is big business. Well the desire for people to entertain themselves is not a new thing nor is it a bad thing if done proper and right in the eyes of God.
One thing that Jesus did not do was ministry to entertain people. What I mean is that Jesus never used the gifts of God to entertain people.
Consider this scripture:
Luke 23:8 Herod was delighted at the opportunity to see Jesus, because he had heard about him and had been hoping for a long time to see him perform a miracle. 9 He asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer.
Herod was not looking for Jesus to change his life, to restore him to God. He just wanted to see something.
If church going people are not careful they can find themselves looking more for the entertainment than the true life changing experience that Jesus offers. And the church must be careful not to fall to the pressure of people who are looking for something that excites more than that which changes.
When the church is more excited about the preacher and how he preaches, than they are about what he preaches, it is time to consider what are we offering. When music and programs is what draws the people, then again it is time to consider what we are offering.
We at Bible Faith Family Church have found that we are to just follow the example Jesus set for the Church.
In my years of ministry I have heard many people talk about that dead church, most of the time that statement comes from a people who are looking to feel a certain something.
Well here is my opinion: A church that has a preacher who will preach the written word of God, a church that has people who believe in the power prayer, and seek for God to search their heart that they may be clean in the eyes of God, a church that hungers for people to meet Jesus, that church is just as alive as any church. That church body is a long way from being dead.
We at Bible Faith Family Church purpose to live that life if offer from the church.
We plan to live, worship and minister to hear, well done!
